The Braun Syncro Shaver has won a lot of raving fans. It does an excellent job of providing a close, clean shave quickly and effectively with very little skin irritation, even if you have a thick beard.
There are numerous models of the Braun Syncro shaver, the difference in the price is about $50. What do you get for your extra $50? A graphical readout telling you how much shaving time is left on the unit’s charge. This may be useful if you travel a lot, use your shaver at work or are otherwise frequently in the situation of not being able to regularly charge your shaver. Otherwise, if you go with the cheaper model, the Braun Shaver 7526 is the most economical model that you can buy. You can just charge up your shaver when the red alert light comes on. It take about one hour to charge the razor, which allows you about 50 minutes of shaving time. Purportedly this is enough for 2-3 weeks of shaving, but I guess that depends on how long it takes you to shave your beard.
The Braun Syncro Cleans Itself
Another great feature about the Braun Syncro is that it is able to clean itself using a cartridge of cleaning solution that lasts for about 30 cleaning cycles. Refills for these cartridges cost about $5-6 dollars and can be hard to find if you’re not shopping online.
The way the cleaning cycle works is that the shaver is placed in it’s base, and you indicate that you are ready to have it be cleaned. Fluid from the cartridge is pumped over the shaver head, cleaning away whiskers and lubricating the shaving head at the same time. Then the head actually heats up to dry itself, so the shaver is clean, dry and ready to go the next time you need a shave. No mess – the left over liquid and whiskers are stored in the cartridge, which goes in the trash when you are done with it.
You Really Do Get A Close Shave
All shavers say they give you a close shave, but a blade is really the best way to get a truly close shave. However, reviewers who have tested this product indicate that the Braun Syncro gives them a close shave than other Pulsonic and Norelco Shavers that they have tried. It is also good for trimming neck hair but not *perfect* – apparently perfection is hard to find when you’re looking for a shaving device that doubles as a neck hair trimmer, too.
