Home Based Business – Get Rid of Time Wasters
A common theme among home based business owners is that there are so many things to do, and not enough hours to do them in each day. Therefore, it is crucial that you make the most out of the hours which you have. In this article, we are going to show you how to do just that.
Here are some things which you absolutely must consider.
1) Get rid of the time wasters in your life. Time wasters are not only people who want to do a Monday Happy Hour. Rather, the time wasters to which we refer are the things which interrupt you, and which you spend time doing. Eliminating the following time wasters is critical for time management:
a) Social Media Websites: These venues are addictive. The solution is to stay away. However, by no means should you spend more than half an hour on one of these websites each day for personal matters.
b) Personal Phone Calls: If the phone rings, and you pick it up in excess of five times per day for personal matters, then you are giving up efficiency in your work process. Any unnecessary interruption completely takes you away from your train of thought. This in turn adversely affects your productivity.
c) Television: The boob tube must be limited for you to achieve ultimate control over your time. My recommendation is thirty minutes per day, especially if you are not getting all the things done you need or want to. If you have a DVR, you can record whatever you want to watch, and skip through the commercials in order to save time.
2) Compose a list of what is truly important in your life, and just start doing the things on your list. One of the keys to time management is prioritizing. You absolutely must know what you want to accomplish and then accomplish it. Today’s world has way too many distractions. When you allow those distractions to become priority, you sacrifice time management. Consider doing the following:
a) Compose a list of the things which you would like to accomplish;
b) Generate time frames for the accomplishment of each item;
c) Organize each item in order of importance;
d) Develop a plan of action which will give you the ability to accomplish your goals within your set time frame.
3) While going through the daily operations of your home based business, begin to focus on time management. Your consistent focus must be on managing your time. Once you have determined what your goals and priorities are, begin focusing on simply completing those goals in their respective order. If something is not on your list of goals for this week, do not spend precious time on it until all of your goals have been completed. If you allow every interruption to become a priority, you will not accomplish your goals. Rather, you will be in debt to interruptions, and probably feel like you never accomplish enough.
