Lose Weight With These Five Foods

One of the biggest obstacles on the journey to weight loss is people’s problem with overeating. This usually happens because we tend to eat faster than our brains can process, which means that instead of feeling full as we should, we don’t feel full because our brains have not processed the fact that we have eaten. Therefore we end up feeling hungry again.

A great way to lose weight, then, is to choose foods that take you longer to chew up and digest, which force us to slow down and allowing our brains the chance to process our food intake. As a result, our hunger will be satisfied. So here are 5 foods that can help you do this and in turn help you to lose weight!

H20

Often times, when we think we are hungry, our bodies are actually trying to tell us that we are dehydrated. Drinking the appropriate amount of water a day will eliminate some of the hunger pangs that we feel. You should be drinking 8-10 8 oz glasses of water every day, and more if you are bigger than the average person.

Salads

Salads are great! They are full of fresh veggies that take a long time to chew. Your salad should include a combination of lettuce, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, spinach, romaine, nuts, and more. Salads provide our bodies with lots of fiber and vitamins and take you a long time to chew because their ingredients are so crunchy. You can make a variety of different salads that are not only great for your health but will leave you feeling full too!

However, don’t drown your salad in salad dressing. This defeats the entire purpose of eating a salad. Instead try a little lemon juice or some vinegar.

Oranges

Oranges are great for waking you up in the morning and contain good vitamins for keeping your immune system functioning well. Peeling an orange and eating one can be a slow process which gives your body again the time it needs to process what you are doing and keep you from over eating.

Broccoli

Broccoli has lots of vitamins and minerals that the body needs and again it also takes a longer time to chew. You can cook broccoli or eat it raw in a salad but either way you are going to have to take your time eating it which is why it’s included in our top 5.

Chocolate Candy Bars

You may be wondering how on earth chocolate made it on to the list but the truth is that hard chocolate bars ( like the kind you can refrigerate), can take a longer time to chew and will help you to satisfy your sweet tooth. Have an occasional 20 gram chocolate bar and see what it can do for you.

Now you must include other things in your diet as well. Variety is great. This list is just meant to get you thinking about the kinds of foods that can help you to lose weight and keep it off.
