Recognizing The Signs And Symptoms Of Male Pattern Baldness.
The chances that many men experience some form of baldness in their life is around 50 percent. For over 90 percent of those men experiencing balding the cause will be male pattern balding. What are the signs of male pattern baldness and what are the stages, and can you reverse it?
Pattern baldness is inherited and predisposes you to advancing baldness as you age. Gradually balding in men progresses from virtually unnoticeable right through, in some cases, to severe balding. The first sign of male pattern balding is a receding hairline.
At the same time the sufferer may have thinning hair on the crown of his head but this is usually not noticed. As the receding hairline at the front develops it will become more noticeable and the thinning on the crown will also be noticed.
This then, in most cases of male pattern baldness, increases to the point where the baldness on the crown develops to complete baldness and the receding hairline advances to join the bald spot. Gradually complete baldness over the top of the head develops.
And for some continue this will until there is only a gradual horseshoe of hair left around the back and sides of the head.
This is the general progression for men suffering from male pattern baldness but might not describe how it works for you. It’s hard to say before it happens exactly how male pattern baldness will affect any one individual. Some men are lucky and have less balding.
The actual mechanism by which male pattern baldness causes the hair to fall out is known. A male hormone called DHT restricts the ability of hair follicles to absorb nutrients and the hair follicles shrink causing the hair to weaken and die prematurely.
Fortunately there are now FDA approved hair loss treatments. There are 2 treatments approved for men. One of these is called minoxidil which operates, so it is thought, by increasing the blood supply to the hair follicle. This allows the follicle an increased supply of nutrients thereby reversing the nutrient deficit and this is thought to be the major effect of minoxidil at affecting hair regrowth.
Using minoxidil on its own is effective but one company has taken this approach one step further to combine minoxidil with essential hair nutrients to maximise the chances of this approach working.
The other product approved by the FDA is finasteride marketed as Propecia which also has been shown to be effective as a hair loss treatment however has some side-effects for men limiting sex drive which can obviously be a problem. However studies show that finasteride works as well.
Neither product works for everybody however would take from 6 months to preferably 12 months before any significant hair regrowth is observed and before anyone can decide if the product is working for them.
So that’s how male pattern balding progresses and what you can do about it. Minoxidil combined with essential hair nutrients is the best male hair loss treatment and you can find out where to get it on my website.
