What to Look out for in a Data Entry Job Scam
A data entry opportunity scam can target you in many ways. There are forms you can fill out at the mall or online that makes you think you are winning something or getting valuable information when in actual fact you are subscribing to a mailing list. The list is purchased and then you begin to receive mailings. It can then be very difficult or even impossible to get your name removed from their list.
Data entry job scams use Craigslist, or similar sites, to locate people. They are listed among jobs that are legitimate. They use your city and information that appears to come from someone in your city. As soon as they get your information they add you to the mailing list that is eventually sold. The mailing list will be sold to any buyer that is looking for people who are looking for online jobs.
When looking at a job on Craigslist, keep this in mind:
Information contained in the ad has no city information. Usually a job posting may state the company or it may give the part of town the job will be located. Legitimate employers give some information about the area where their company is located because they want to give you as much info as possible to make a decision. They put the area of town in the posting to help cut down on the amount of calls and resumes they would receive without it. A data entry job scam will not have anything that gives you town information in the posting.
There is no way to reach them. When you apply for a job, you usually have someone to send your resume to or call. Even if the company is not listed on the ad, it will give you a persons name or title. A data entry job scam may just have job information and nothing else.
When can you begin? Data entry opportunity scams will be very vague with start information or look as if they required you last week. Most employers know that the process will take a few weeks, so they don’t appear like they will have to close until you get there. They don’t want you if you dont give notice because they will believe you will do the same thing to them. Scam artists do not have a real job waiting for you so they will say whatever they need to for you to provide your information.
The job listing will sound impressive and you will feel as though the position was made for you. It appears most individuals are searching for new opportunities. The data entry opportunity scams seem impressive when you read them. The job will sound very positive and you will see yourself in that new job. You will be so excited that you will get your CV together and email it to them right away. You will guess that they got your resume first and based on your experience will pick you over anyone else. Everything you are feeling at that time is not true because there really isn’t an opportunity. As soon as you submitted your email, they are adding you to a list to begin sending you opportunities that are actually scams.
